GERMAN CHRISTMAS LESSONS VOCABULARY CARDS #1

(2)
PRIMARY GERMAN KS3 GERMAN CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES BEGINNER GERMAN VOCABULARY CARDS & QUIZ featuring 99 beginner German words and phrases, 198 matching German and English Santa cards and whole-group multi-skill vocabulary quiz with 60 questions The Christmas-theme cards work really well for revision and practice - my students find the Santa cards fun and motivating! There are 198 matching German and English vocabulary cards, which is definitely quite a bit of prep. I always laminate my vocabulary cards, they are far more learner-friendly, and last for absolutely years, so it’s worth the extra prep time and expense. There a lots of different games students can play entirely independently, and I’ve outlined a selection that work well for us. My students really like to work together, in pairs or in small groups, moving away from more teacher-led activities. The games enable them to practice and consolidate their key beginner German vocabulary in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, and they really do create a lively language learning environment. Students can have either an entire set, depending on the size of their learning group, or particular collections of cards, according to the vocabulary theme. I’ve described the set as not grade-specific, because the content depends on the particular learning stage your students have reached, or are working towards. The vocabulary in this set focuses on: die Begrüßungen die Tage der Woche die Monate des Jahres die vier Jahreszeiten die Zahlen 0 bis 31 die Farben die Länder The set comprises: 198 matching German and English Santa cards, each with a particular word or phrase from the above vocabulary groups 60-question whole-group multi-skill quiz, with a range of questions such as Wie sagt man … auf Englisch? Wie schreibt man … auf Deutsch? The quiz is a non-editable presentation file for copyright reasons, and moves on to the next question with a click. Have a look through it first before you play the quiz with your students, so that you can prepare any additional questions or dialogue you think would work well for them Have a browse in my store for more German Christmas activities, and a wide range of other German teaching and learning materials, with special offer bundles & resource boxes, and lots of freebies too! GCSE FRENCH ER VERBS CONDITIONAL TENSE FOCUSING ON 25 HIGH-FREQUENCY FRENCH -ER VERBS This kind of grammar activity is really popular with my students - they like to work independently, practising and revising how to conjugate French verbs, and it’s a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. There are***150 conjugation questions across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges***, with an answer key booklet. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in French. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding French verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of French conjugation works, reflect on what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. They also use this page to note any new verbs they learn, which helps them build up a comprehensive verb vocabulary. They’re also really useful for a focus on definite article and gender. The game isn’t actually about learning all the animals - 20 is too many in ‘one go’ - select your core vocab, with the additional animals useful for quick recall practice. I developed SILENT BINGO to provide my students with an alternative way of practising their vocab and general language skills - select a grid type for students - picture-only, French word or English word. FRENCH ER VERBS PERFECT TENSE

(1)
GCSE FRENCH KS4 FRENCH KS3 FRENCH PERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE featuring 25 high-frequency French -ER verbs My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. There are 150 conjugations across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges with complete answer key. The workbook focuses on the mechanics of conjugation, rather than usage, but I find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example, language learners do often try to conflate what they know about grammar in their first language with the language they are learning, and with students whose first language is English, I frequently see students confusing the use of the auxiliaries avoir and être for example. Students do need to to have a good grasp of the auxiliary verbs in the present tense to ensure that they can form the perfect tense accurately. In terms of the past participle, students begin to be able to predict it accurately, the more they see it, and construct it. I also refer frequently the differences in usage between English and French in the perfect tense, which are quite significant. The resource is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in French Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding French verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt Notes and Next Steps template which students visit regularly - it really does encourage them to think about where they are now, how confident they feel, and what they might need to work on a little more to be absolutely sure of their conjugation skills answer key Have a browse in my store for more French grammar activities, and a wide range of other French teaching and learning resources, with special offer bundles, resource boxes, and lots of freebies too! GERMAN REFLEXIVE VERBS PRESENT TENSE

(1)
GCSE GERMAN KS3 GERMAN KS4 GERMAN REFLEXIVE VERBS PRESENT TENSE 25 high-frequency German reflexive verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys ideal for KS3 German KS4 German students who are beginning to work with compound sentences and longer texts, and generally developing their knowledge and understanding of conjugation and tense in German. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. The workbook focuses on the correct conjugation of verbs, rather than usage, but I definitely find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example, with the German present tense, I encourage students to look for patterns across all the verbs, such as the singular pronouns, including the pronoun man form being identical, pointing out also that man is commonly used in German, often also meaning we, unlike the pronoun one in English. Students do often try to conflate what they know about conjugation, and I frequently see attempts such as ich bin mich waschen for I am getting washed or similarly***ich mache / tue mich erinnern*** for I do remember. The workbook comprises the following: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in German across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in German. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding German verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. PRIMARY FRENCH TELLING TIME DISPLAY POSTERS These telling the time posters / flashcards are perfect for creating an instant introduction to telling the time in FRENCH.
